gay sex in the mikva: holy?

November 17, 2006

well hello there

http://ashejournal.com/eleven/51_michaelson.pdf

Jay Michaelson is the most inisightful writer of our generation re: the religious impulse, Judaism, buddism and their limitations, and queer spirituality. Here’s an amazing piece about his life, growing up religious and fellating a young man at a mikvah, in the sweetesrt least sleazy way possible.

He publishes and edits zeek (www.zeek.net) and had me write a piece for it called Tree of Life largely about chassidis and psychedelics in prehistory. Read his writings, and become a better person for it.

And check out

http://ashejournal.com/ The journal of experimental spirituality, which this piece is from. Some amazing stuff here.

http://www.metatronics.net/words/aa.htm

A great piece on the origins of philosphical anti-semitism, and the problem with law that the whole world associated with Us.

http://www.blithe.com/10.2/10.2.02.html

What if the pasuk forbidding homosexualiy vanished from every chumash and sefer Torah? would it solve the problem?

    Homosexuality is an abomination !

God created Adam & Eve , not Adam & Steve !

The Bible says “be fruitful and multiply” , it does not say be a fruit !

I am glad they allow gays in the army , they should also let them jump out of airplanes without parachutes !

Interesting dude. He writes well and formats beautifully.

Once, he faulted his modorth folks for dray’ing with the mitzvos. Probably they (and he) were somewhat fardrayt’e if a kid experiencing adolescence in the 80’s had no idea of gay lifestyle. Interesting how all his rebbes knew nothing about the orgiasm in the y’shiva dorms; and even more so, that neither he nor his khevra had enough respect for their rebbes’ decency, integrity, and piety, to feel that they could talk with them.

Maybe it’s all related to the eruv-rav and the effects of the “kiruv” movement. Some imbecilities of Jewish institutionalism set this guy off. Or maybe it’s just plain “avayrah gorerres avayrah” + “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing” (“ayn bor lomed”). Or maybe it’s just that persons who allow themselves to be totally driven by their sexual fantasies, become confused by “light and darkness”. So this eloquent dudette has gone from dissing his parents’ Yiddishkeit, to proselytizing his own deviationism. The Torah says, You stink, dude (to’ayvah); and the RS”G cries.

Homosexuality is not an abomination. The attraction to another person of the same sex is not itself a violation of halacha. The Torah speaks of a specific act, namely anal sex between 2 men (see Rashi on this). It is interesting though, that frum Jews don’t get nearly as angry or feel as threatened by other Jews practicing other “abominable” things like eating shellfish. It seems to me, that sexual attractions are far more naturally occurring and harder to control. So, rather than jump on your fake-outraged bandwagon and spout out what you’ve been programmed to say, think and feel…calmly consider these things.

I once asked a rabbi about this and he reluctantly admitted that sex between two men, short of and not including anal sex, is no more a violation of halacha than “spilling seed”. of course there is absolutely no prohibition in torah about two women having sexual relations.

I used to wonder why Old Testament prophet Zechariah (and not fundies like Falwell) predicted that two-thirds of Jews will be “cut off” in the endtimes and how that lined up with another prediction that G-d will remove “ungodliness from Jacob” while turning certain people “over to a reprobate mind” [that is, Satan] without their even being aware that they’ve been “programed” by G-d, but then I ran into your site and things became clear that you are doing your unwitting part to help fulfill predictions and make them even more believable – all of which proves that many New Yorkers haven’t learned much of anything from their recent disasters! Hey Yoseph – Thanks for the post – and apart from the usual flames, thanks commenters too! I do want to point out that “The Erotic Mikva” is *fiction* — sorry boys! Never happened. And that was never my life; though I was closeted and Orthodox in Jerusalem for a couple of years, I never made aliyah, never lived at a yeshiva, and in general never led the life that the narrator of the story led. For the 3 years I lived in Jerusalem, I did go to the mikva before every shabbos, and wondered about the strange mix of eroticism and anti-eroticism — not quite a locker room, not quite a shul. The story came from a mix of imagination and my (traditional and academic) study of Kabbalah. There are more where that came from; I’m hoping to get the collection published someday. In the meantime, my other work is at http://www.godinyourbody.com, http://www.nehirim.org, http://www.zeek.net, and http://www.metatronics.net.

P.S. There’s no fellatio in the story either – no mouth, just hands. Alas, more disappointment!

male homosexuality is an abomination (female homosexuality is just plain hot) even on the Sopranos where murder is acceptable, they were absolutly discusted when they discovered that one of their own was a homo, and a catcher no less, justice was served and he was wacked.

I thank G-d for sending AIDS upon the homos and I enjoy watching them die. This is what our Torah states that we should rejoice when we see the wicked perish. We do that on pesach as we celebrate the drowning of the mitryim and we should celebrate every day when we hear another feigelah droped of AIDS

    Frum Yid:

While I generally refuse to use the holocaust as any sort of analogy because of it’s nature as a really fucked up/easy to misconstrue event, I feel this is a fair time to make this analogy:

The Anti-Semites of Europe and America undoubtedly “thanked G-d” for sending Hitler upon the yids and they enjoyed watching them die.

Judge yourself, my friend, and remember that Hasid comes from the Hebrew chesed, which translates to lovingkindness. Celebrating the slow, painful death of some unlucky fucker is not lovingkindness. Be a hasid, not a hasid shotah.
