shabbat, i lit maches

nothing much of interest happened this shabat.
not this shabat, but exactly two years ago.
i read the parsha (ki tetze)
and all of a sudden I knew I was going to explode with rage and anger
the rage of a person silenced, objectified and humiliated
if you don’t know what I’m talking about, read it again, and pretend you are one of the women facing that legislation in that parsha.
I picked up a box of matches.
I lit one, two, three.
I put them out in the sink.
TAKE THAT, GOD.
TAKE THAT, JEWS.
TAKE THAT, MEN.
shabat?
who needs it? GET IT OUT OF MY FACE. Get torah, religion, judaism OUT OF MY FACE.
(Can you imagine, that one time they asked me to read this parsha at an orthox feminist women’s torah reading? How insane can that be????)
That was two years ago.
Since than I have learned,
that I don’t keep shabat because of any fake torah.
I keep it to honor gods creation.
I keep it to celebrate god given freedom.
and no stupid torah, or human being that follows it, can take that away from me.

The Changing Face of the Israeli Police

Meet Ya’ir Lew.

Lew is a Satmar Chassid and one of the newest additions to the Jerusalem Police Force’s special volunteer unit, Yasham. The subject of a recent piece in the Jerusalem Post, Lew’s story is a long and interesting one, and he mentions what his rabbi and father told him when he decided to become a cop in the Holy City:

“I asked if joining would be a problem,” he says. “Both the rabbi and my father said essentially the same thing: There is a difference between serving the citizens of this country and serving the State of Israel. Serving Jews as a police officer is okay; serving the State of Israel as a soldier is not.”

To some this may seems to be splitting hairs but to Lew it was the answer he needed to join Yasham.

Satmar Hassidim, who originated in an area on the Hungarian-Romanian border, base their opposition to the state on their belief that the creation of a Jewish state by Jews runs counter to God’s will. However, they are taught to love the Land of Israel and the Jewish people.

“The Yasham attracts volunteers from all walks of life – we have in our unit doctors, lawyers and professors, as well as street cleaners,” says Yasham’s chief operations officer, Maj. Robert Mountwitten. “But Lew is our only Satmar. In fact, he is currently the only haredi in the unit, although we now have another haredi volunteer who is in the vetting process.”

Hat tip to Ha’emtza.

Heavenly bureaucratic confusion

There is such a thing that even to the supernal court is applied the verse (I Samuel 16:7) “for man looketh on the outward appearance [,but the LORD looketh on the heart].” And in the name of R. Shlomo of Karlin who said that when he said (Vechol Maminim, Rosh ha-Shanah prayers) “Who searches and analyzes the secret repositories [of our hearts]” he saw that they took souls that were in paradise for three hundred years to hell.

A Nice Little Comment On Pot

Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal?
It’s a natural plant that grows in the dirt.
Do you know what’s not natural?
80 year old dudes with hard-ons. That’s not natural.
But we got pills for that.
We’re dedicating all our medical resources to keeping the old guys erect,
but we’re putting people in jail for something that grows in the dirt?

Chabad and Satmar versus Shach

Hisvaduyeis 5745 volume 4 pages 2227-2229

Rebbe criticizes Shach and his followers and also Satmars says not to argue with them not even to enter their shules or read their newspapers etc.
Says that people who start reading their stuff which is bitul Torah and leitzonus end up with “miyzvah goreret mitzvah” and read actual kefirah. And that like a teacher is exiled to a place where unintential murderer is exiled so too in this case thru them reading this stuff they cause their teachers to also be exiled to a place of leitzonus etc. see inside.
Says that the Jewih unity doesn’t apply in this case as it is an issue of pikuach nefesh.
(He doesn’t mention either directly Shach is aluded to as a the muchutzaf who says not to learn Mishne Torah and Satmar as “those who hold the shitah that Torah of the Baal Shem Tov was forgoten”.)

WY I’M NOT A VEGETARIAN

Vegetarians normally substitute meat with soy products.

Most soybeans these days are grown in the Amazon, which is getting destroyed to make room for the soybeans, every day more and more of this beautiful and wonderful land is getting lost.

By eating soy products we are letting the soy ranchers know that they could grow more soybeans, hence letting them cut down more trees and keep on ruining the rain forest.

I herby protest the use of soybeans and encourage you to instead eat meat.

Bridle thy Mouth

Sefer HaSh’tikah “Book of Silence”

by Reb Yakov Leib HaKohain, Founder & Spiritual Director
DONMEH WEST

“Everything that has been till this day has been done so the Seed of the Jews be maintained and that the Name of Israel not be forgotten. But now there is no more need for following Torah Commandments or reciting prayers, but only to listen and do and go until we come to a certain Hidden Place. — Avatar Yakov Leib (Jacob) Frank (18th Century spiritual heir of Sabbatai Zevi and leader of the Western Donmeh.)”

In Hebrew, Sepher HaSh’tikah literally means “The Book of Silence,” and is the title I have given to this lecture which was inspired (as are all my teachings) by a dream. The Bible says of such dreams:

“God speaks first in one way, and then in another….He speaks by dreams and visions that come in the night…Then it is He uncovers human ears.” (Job 33:14)

Of this passage, the Zohar brings down:

“Come and see: When a person climbs into bed, first he must enthrone and accept the Kingdom of Heaven, then say a verse of mercy, as the Chaverim have established. For when a person sleeps in his bed, his soul leaves him and soars up above, each one on its own path. She ascends in this way, as has been said. What is written? ‘By dreams and visions that come in the night,’ when people are lying in their beds asleep, the soul leaves them, as it is written: ‘As they sleep upon their bed, He uncovers human ears.’ Then the Blessed Holy One reveals to the soul, through that level presiding over dreams, things that are destined to come about in the world or things corresponding to the mind’s reflections.” (Zohar 1:183a-b)

Jung, too, wrote of the dream in much the same way: Continue at Donmeh West

Eizehi Chosid

this site talks about all kind of things. sometimes it searches deeper into the different aspects of “chasidus”

you are familiar with the gemoro… there are several ways of midas hachasidus; but sometimes, there is a foolish man who simply does not know the way. but he’s a good man, he wants good, he means good, but he does not know better.

in another gemoro, it relates the situation of having a neighbor, a short-tempered talmid chochom, rather then having a neighbor who is not a talmid chochom and does not know of how to really make a decision. where from the talmud chochom you can only learn right.

chasidus is by the talmidei chachomim. it takes to be skilled, to actually know the truth, and living by it’s standards, to stand up with strong believe for the way.

the point!!! chasidus is where it allways was. and it’s not here on this site.

if you do have something inspiring that you want to share with the readers, there are other websites with more dignity, and we highly encourage the public to follow up with other websites.
