Shlichus……The Rebbe’s Dream.
(Reprinted from Di Yiddishe Heim, Winter 5737)Shlichus literally means a mission. As it is used in Lubavitch today, it refers to a mission undertaken voluntarily by a couple, (usually young in years, and always young in spirit), or a family, or Yeshiva students, to bring Torah Judaism to other Jews. They leave the warmth and comfort and familiarity of home in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to live in a community ten miles or 2,000 miles away, where their talents and knowledge are sorely needed, to teach, to guide, to inspire, and to bring Jewish people of every age “back home.”
The “SHLIACH” Who I posted the question about, I have talked to, I have met. I didnt post it to stir up any shit or controversy or point any fingers or judge.I didnt mention his name or any thing that would point out who he is, or the name ofthe person who contacted him to learn. This was not about RUCKUS or SCANDAL or GOSSIP,It was simply to get other people’s opinions and views, gemmorah style I guess, argue it out or what ever.
The “SHLIACH” has offered this person the chance to learn, and to learn with a group that he has somewhat to do with, AND TO HELP THIS PERSON BY DOING SO.
I totally understand SHLICHUS, I have read and studied so much about it myself, it fascinates me and I love it, The mission, The dream, The project, The goal. Shlichus hits home with me,and as they say home is where the heart is.
I have no “beef” with SHLUCHIM, I am not out to get them or set them up or anything of that sort.I have a problem with the one’s who choose SHLICHUS as there way of life but for the wrong reasons,and are not doing the job the way THE REBBE wanted it to be done, and therefore killing his dream and mocking his hard work and effort, and ultimately keeping and pushing people off “The Derech”
I have the same problem with a Nurse, Lawyer, Doctor, or Social worker who is in it for the wrong personal selfish reasons and ultimately is causing more damage and hurting people.
Shluchim are very bussy people they always have a full plate, they are always doing something, helping someone or counseling someone or learning with someone, all at the same time trying to keep themselves saine and support there ever growing family’s.
No one Shliach can fix the world or its problems that’s why there are so many they are The Rebbes army The Rebbes emissary’s The Rebbes dream as a team as an army they can take over th world ! they can mekarev every lost soul out there and really live the line “No Jew Left Behind”
When someone calls a Shliach and ask’s him to do something he cant always comply his plate may already be full for the day , his cup may have runneth over, it does not mean he is not doing his job.Shluchim also need to keep there guard up unfortunately, because there are bad apples out there who just want to take advantage of there good kind hearts,so yes A Shliach needs to inquire and question and “investigate” when some one calls asking for help, its unfortunate and sad but such is life,and personally from my own experiences, even as being “Shtick Dreck” they usually come through.
In the video I posted of me at The Shluchim office talking to another Shliach, he too was very polite accepting genuine,and nice and civil. I did not post the audio of the video because titskile mitzvos do not always need to be ‘published’ if your out on a mission to do a mitzva just to be recognized for it your doing it selfishly and for the wrong reason….we had our talk I went there for a purpose that’s all that matters…..He too is A SHLIACH.
The Shliach I wrote about turns out to be A REAL SHLIACH , Who is carrying out his Rebbes dream. And willing to learn !
